Our worship this Sunday begins with the beautiful:  Psalm-Prelude, Op. 32, No. 1  (Ps. 34, v.6) by Herbert Howells and concludes with the:  Festival Postlude on “Westminster Abbey” (“Christ is made the sure foundation”) by George Towers.

Hymn 302, "Father, we thank thee, who hast planted" is a metrical paraphrase, by F. Bland Tucker, from the original Greek, of several traditional prayers dating to the first century.  It is sung to the tune Rendez a Dieu from the Genevan Psalter of 1551 by Louis Bourgeois.

The Offertory Anthem, "Almighty God your word is cast like seed upon the ground" is based on the morning's Gospel lesson, the Parable of the Sower of Seeds, and was composed by Roy H. Johnson specifically for use in our Hymnal 1982.  It is sung by Briggs Williamson who, as an accomplished boy soprano, was a member of the American Boychoir after starting in our own Trinity Choristers.  Now, growing into a beautiful baritone voice, Briggs will be attending the Interlochen Arts Academy in the Fall.
